Proof of Concept Shorts | CinéV-CHD
cinev.in | a marketplace for debut features, among other things..
We are introducing a new section, ProofPoint, in CinéV-CHD, to be held in Chandigarh, March 20-23, 2025. Under this segment, the market will be curating short films that are a precursor to a long format version of the same story.
WHY SHORTS?
These Proof of Concept films would allow a potential investor to view your craft, your competence in production, and your ability to tell a story that can engage audiences when made as a feature film. Above all, they can demonstrate your potential as a talent to invest in for the long term.
Making shorts as a calling card to obtain production and financial support for a debut feature film certainly seems like the right thing to do now. While in the past, a screenplay alone could get you funding from public and private entities, this is not, or at least should not be the case if we want to up the game in our industry.
Short film festivals are more visible on the radar now for precisely this reason. It is a great venue for talent scouts and investors to identify new filmmaking talent. Nuhash Humayun’s case study works as a great pointer. It was a smart effective strategy that is followed by many filmmakers. It can perhaps be leveraged by an even greater number of creators in India to ease the pain of funding for a debut long format film.
CinéV-CHD 2025
The intent of CineV is to build an investor-creator network that allows for more private finance to permeate the Indian film ecosystem. It is largely an inward looking marketplace that seeks to optimise the potential of filmmaking, of tapping into our growing markets, and leveraging the ripple effect that would inevitably follow.
YOUR BUSINESS HAT
I believe every film creator benefits by wearing two hats - the creative one and the business hat. To build and expand careers, each of us as filmmakers/ producers would be well served by keeping the following in mind while making a pitch -
Why this film?
What is the value proposition of the project?
What is the intangible value your film can bring on the table for your investor?
What is the Return on Investment that you envisage?
APPLICATIONS
To register as a market delegate, please log in to cinev.in.
